Compensation/Benefits

Compensation and benefits for community-based physicians is determined by the community practice employing the physician.

Physicians should refer to their contracts with individual practices for information regarding their compensation model. Community-based physicians may be eligible for leadership stipends depending on the nature of their leadership roles within the hospital and the needs of the facility.

Hospital

Compensation

Compensation models for employed physicians may vary between member hospitals and by specialty. In addition to base salary, some incentive models based on productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction measures may be available. Compensation may be supplemented in cases where the physician takes on leadership roles (e.g., department chair, committees).

Academic

Physicians with full faculty appointments by the University of Maryland School of Medicine may be available in both academic and community settings. The benefits for these physicians are determined by the School of Medicine; more information can be accessed at http://medschool.umaryland.edu/.

Volunteer clinical faculty appointments may also be available for employed or community-based physicians. Physicians in this designation would be eligible for benefits of these respective designations.
